Dorothy's Been Playing......

These are some fun backgrounds I did today....
I will try to post at least one finished card
tomorrow, along with the instructions for these backgrounds.
These are so much fun to do, and you never know
what you will come up with.
Cheers,
Dorothy

Beauty.....

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY
TO ALL THE BEAUTIFUL MOTHERS
OUT IN BLOG LAND!
xo
For the background I first sprayed it with a few
color wash colors. Then I painted over it with Sheer
Gold Glaze by Delta and immediately wiped it off
leaving just a fine coating. Once dry, I gave it a
couple of squirts of spray webbing by Krylon.
The Butterfly and flower center were
explained in an earlier post

More Fun With Backgrounds

I like to do a few 12" x 12" sheets with this background so I can have them handy when I need them. The background leaves are Hero Arts. The three leaves stamp and verse is Magenta .
Randomly put down some ink colors using the direct to paper method. (DTP) Stamp leaves in colors simular to the ink layed down. Leaves should be darker in color. If the area is yellow then maybe you can stamp in orange. After stamping each time, clean/rub your stamp over the area just stamped. Have a sponge handy to fill in areas with the direct to paper method (only if needed.) Continue until you have your desired effect. Cut peice of CS to the size you want. Stamp leaves in black pigment ink and emboss with black embossing powder. Now lightly pat your versa mark pad over entire piece of CS (remember, pat lightly) and emboss in clear. Notice the background is not a smooth finish. This is what you want.
Use your imagination and see what you can come up with. I use this technique a lot.
The "Life" stamp below is from Verses Rubber StampsDirect to paper for background, then stamped with permanent ink. Cover entire piece of CS with Versa mark and emboss. Repeat embossing step until desired effect is acheived.
The stamp is Hero Arts
